These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.Job Overview And ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of United Aviate Academy. Responsible for all financial processes including budget tracking, billing, receivables, payables, financial reporting/statements, forecasting, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, contract planning/financial review, payroll, revenue recognition, light tax related functions, analysis and reporting, and audit preparation.Work closely with and report to the Director, Finance Controller working in partnership with the parent company United and their accounting/finance/treasury team members. Collaborate with a small team covering payroll, receivables, and payables.Accounts Payable Processes, vendor payments, review expense reports for payment, invoice coding, preparation of check ride invoices to studentsHandle employee reimbursements and credit card account management, including auditing and analysisProvide support on staff inquiries related to budgets, deposits, disbursements, contract analysis, reporting, and transfer of payments via ACH, wire, or file feeds. Serve as a trusted business advisor by building strong relationships across departments and the parent companyPreparation and research of journal entries in Workday & Oracle for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including fixed assetsPreparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliationsReconciliation of Intercompany accounting with UnitedDevelop and implement accounting and finance processes and proceduresIdentify opportunities for process improvements to streamline consistency and efficiencies across financial operationsPreparation of year-end books and audit schedules, and coordination with internal and external auditors on requests for auditsThis position is offered on local terms and conditions. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Bachelor's degreeAccounting, Finance or related areaBachelor’s degree (i.e., Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration)4+ years related experience in accounting field:Accounts payable, general ledger, and balance sheetExperience with ERP systemsThorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience processing and/or managing month-end, quarter-end, year-end processes, developing reports, and auditingKnowledge and understanding of finance/accounting systems and designing processes and proceduresProficiency with Microsoft Office products, finance, and accounting systemsAdvanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros, and what-if analysisStrong ability to use data & analytics; determine key decisions and identify actions for best resultsKnowledge of accounting/financial statements, policies and procedures including SOX controlsAbility to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspectiveAbility to thrive within ambiguity and drive complex projects and day-to-day initiatives/taskThink strategically and translate concepts into actionable itemsOutstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, valuing compliance & ethical behavior, governance & controls, and adhering to company and financial policiesMotivated, self-directed, and results-driven approach to work, takes ownership of assigned tasks to drive them to timely completionBuild strong partnerships across the business areas, advising on finance/accounting practicesCourage to make key financial decisions and advise leadership with professionalism & poiseComfortable working in ambiguous business situationsExcellent oral and written communications skillsMust be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorshipMust be fluent in English (written and spoken)Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):CPA, Master’s, or MBA in finance/accounting preferred or equivalent certificationsGL (General Ledger) and month-end closeWorkday financial systems and Oracle
