Senior Business Analyst

Position Title : Sr. Business AnalystLocation: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)Mode : Contract Position SummaryThe Senior Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting enterprise-level initiatives within the Client .The incumbent will be responsible for conducting detailed business and systems analysis, gathering and documenting requirements, and facilitating collaboration between business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills to ensure that business needs are accurately translated into technical solutions aligned with organizational strategies and standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead requirement-gathering sessions, stakeholder meetings, and workshops to identify business needs and ensure alignment across project objectives.Perform system analysis, design, testing, and implementation of applications in accordance with enterprise IT goals and standards.Define and manage user stories, participate in sprint planning and backlog refinement, ensuring that business requirements are effectively captured and implemented.Conduct user research, develop personas, and create journey maps to enhance service delivery and overall user experience.Collaborate with stakeholders to generate prototypes and functional specifications, translating complex business needs into clear technical requirements.Work closely with development teams to manage incidents, triage issues, and ensure timely resolution.Prepare comprehensive system documentation, user manuals, and training materials to support system implementation and end-user adoption.Provide guidance and direction in planning application development activities to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.Required Skills and QualificationsProven experience working within Agile project methodologies, including the use of Jira and/or Azure DevOps.Strong ability to translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and detailed specifications.Demonstrated expertise in user research, persona development, and journey mapping for improving system usability and service delivery.Solid understanding of system analysis and design, particularly in web-based technologies, databases, and COTS applications such as Cúram.Experience in incident management, issue triaging, and stakeholder communications.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities within cross-functional teams.Experience in cybersecurity projects within large organizations is considered an asset.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience working within the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or other public-sector organizations.Familiarity with OPS frameworks, governance structures, and approval processes.Must Haves:Experience with Agile project methodology leveraging Jira and/or DevOpsExperience transposing requirements into coherent user storiesStrong communications, consultations and interpersonal skills to determine client needsExperience working with the business users, IT development teams and external vendorsStrong business relationship skills as cross-functional collaboration is highly desired.Experience related to cyber security projects within large organizations. Nice to Have:Prior experience with Public / OPS organizations.
