You are required to ensure all capesize freight coverage is adequate and fully performed in line with agreed policies and procedures.The principle function of the Commercial Operations group is to build a competitive, flexible freight portfolio. This will be achieved by trading the spot, period and forward markets, along with sourcing COAs and using FFAs as a tool to manage positions. So, you’ll need to have your finger on the pulse and have a strong understanding of your specific region as well as the global market.Your success will be dependent on your ability to work well within the team to help devise the best trading strategies and execute to the highest standards. You should enjoy using your relationship building skills to network with existing clients and suppliers, along with establishing new trades and customers.Job Accountabilities/Key ResponsibilitiesWorth with the geared team to prepare and execute trading strategies to meet the dry bulk business targets.Identifying business growth opportunities.Negotiate to fix in and out tonnage in the spot and period market in line with company standards and policies.Price forward cargoes and COAs to compliment the current trade flows as well as explore new business to optimize returns.Collate and analyze market information for weekly and monthly reports.Work with the analytics team to forecast and identify longer term trends and opportunities.Strong emphasis on customer service and building relations with existing and new partners.Qualifications & ExperienceA marine or industry related qualification.3 or more years of commercial shore-based experience with a proven track record in the shipping industry.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Risk appetite to take positions and develop new business.Good research and intelligence gathering.An independent “can-do” attitude is required.Must be innovative, adaptable, and flexiblePreferredChartering experience within the dry bulk industry.Knowledge of Shipping Operations, IMOS (or similar shipping software).Experience of cargo operations documentation procedures.
