Plastic Bank is looking for a seasoned, purpose-driven Senior Communications Manager in British Columbia who can turn impact into headlines, data into stories, and partnerships into powerful narratives while protecting and elevating the brand.Your goal will be to amplify our global movement with clear, compelling, human-centered communications across media, partners, and digital channels. You will shape how we show up to the world, ensuring our voice is indisputable, bold, and authentic.Key responsibilities:Lead and own Plastic Bank’s external communications planning and creationEnsure brand and messaging consistency across all teams and touchpointsConceptualize and create fast-paced, trendy digital campaignsTranslate impact into stories for web, social, events, and partnersTrack SOV and sentiment, and optimize marketing communications based on performanceGuide, manage and supervise community managers for Plastic Bank and its founders’ channelsWork closely with the content engine team of video editors, content creators, and graphic designersCollaborate with and support Plastic Bank's broader marketing team on cross-functional projectsOwn and manage Plastic Bank's digital asset library, ensuring asset approvals and classification are on-brandDevelop and update Plastic Bank's website content in line with product, tech and brand teamsDevelop, follow and support crisis communication protocols with fast, clear, and authentic responsesPosition Plastic Bank’s leadership as go-to voices in poverty alleviation, social impact, circular economy, ESG, EPR, and plastic offsetsBuild and nurture relationships with global, sustainability, business, and impact mediaPlan, write, and distribute press releases, features, interviews, media pitches, briefing docs, and talking pointsSupport and manage two Community ManagersKey requirements:At least 6 years of hands-on (not supervisory) experience in communications on brand or agency side, ideally working on projects related to sustainability, environmental and social impactEnglish speaker with exceptional writing and editing skillsStrong storytelling ability — can move between executive voice, campaign voice, and impact voiceAble to switch from campaign copywriting to social media captioning, video scripts to thought-leader POVs, press release to op-ed without losing the threadComfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, and impact teams across different time zonesStrategic, organized, and confident presenting to leadershipA strategic brain with creative instincts — you can see the bigger narrative and the tiny detailWilling to evolve - unlearn what doesn't work and relearn what doesProven experience securing meaningful coverage and managing media relationshipsNice-to-haves:Experience in a global, multi-market agency or organizationFamiliarity with ESG reporting, impact communications, or supply-chain storytellingEvent/speaker placement experience (forums, sustainability summits, brand stages)Experience managing a team of direct reportsWhat success looks like:Plastic Bank’s story is consistently, indisputably, and effectively told across paid, earned and owned channelsOur impact (plastic collected, lives improved) is communicated in ways people understand and rememberOur partners are proud to share our contentOur leadership is recognized as go-to voices on subjects of relevanceOur brand presence grows year on year and matches the scale of our missionScreening Process:Applicants shortlisted based on submission (profile and portfolio) - Include a link to your work portfolio on your resumeShortlisted candidates will be interviewed by Head of People and Culture and asked to submit an assessmentQualifying candidates will be interviewed by Director Global Brand StrategyFinalists will be interviewed by VP - Global Head of Marketing & Brand EngagementIf you’re interested in learning more about our mission and operations before a potential interview, consider signing up for a free Impact Account on our home page.Equal Opportunity Statement:All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, citizenship, disabilities, or any other legally protected factor.
