Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled DBA with expertise in both Oracle and Postgres, and a strong track record of migrating Oracle databases to Postgres. This role is critical to our cloud modernization strategy, and you will play a key role in designing, planning, and executing the migration of mission-critical workloads.Primary responsibilities (not limited to)Lead the migration of Oracle databases from on-prem to Postgres on AWS (RDS / Aurora). Schema conversion, data migration, and performance tuning as well as working with developers to guide them on best practise when refactoring PL/SQL to pgSQLCollaborate with application teams, architects, and DevOps to ensure migrations are well co-ordinated across stakeholders.Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting in both Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.Design and implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for PostgreSQL RDS and Oracle.Implement monitoring and observabilityDocument policies and procedures.Implement security best practisesImplement backup strategies in-line with business requirementsProvide production support and participate in on-call rotations as needed.Document migration processes, configurations, and best practices.Oracle RAC configuration and supportCapacity management – monitoring and forecastingProvide recommendations on what tools and platforms we use for databases for the long termCritical Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Oracle to Postgres migrationsMigrating databases from on-prem to cloudDesigning and implementing Backup strategies, HA and DR for Oracle and PostgresImplementing scheduled maintenance jobs for indexes and stats and consistency checksMonitoring and observability with tools such as OEM, Grafana & PrometheusImplementing RDS or Arora on AWSTerraform or similar IaC systemsDegree level preferred but not mandatoryWorking Hours: 40/week, Monday–Friday.
