Senior Electrical Engineer – Galway (Moycullen Area)A leading Electrical Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team on a Synchronous Condenser and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located near Moycullen, Co. Galway. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile energy infrastructure project within a dynamic engineering environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and review schematic designs and single-line diagramsConduct HV system studies, including protection coordination, arc flash, voltage regulation, load flow, and fault level analysisSupport the pre-commissioning and commissioning of GIS and AIS substationsEnsure full compliance with project-specific safety requirementsLead detailed design work across HV and LV equipment, control systems, and protection systemsManage equipment specification, selection, and procurementPrepare and interpret technical specifications, tender documents, and engineering reportsAssist in developing technical and contract documentationMonitor project progress, prepare updates, and support scheduling using MS ProjectPrepare method statements, risk assessments, and maintain document controlLiaise with clients, design partners, and contractors to resolve technical mattersManage on-site technical queries and support the project team through planning, testing, commissioning, and handoverAssemble bid, approval, and construction drawing packagesAssess design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety—proposing improvements where requiredOversee prototype build, testing, and modification activitiesSupervise junior engineers and techniciansPerform additional duties as needed to support successful project deliveryRequirementsDegree-qualified in Electrical Engineering5+ years’ experience as an Electrical Project Engineer within the HV energy or renewable sectorStrong written and verbal communication abilitiesExcellent attention to detail and confidence managing deadlinesAbility to positively influence stakeholders at all levelsA collaborative, team-oriented approach with a focus on high performance
