With headquarters in Ireland, we also operate in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.As part of the RSK Group, an amalgamation of over 200 companies with more than 15,000 employees, we benefit from a global network of opportunities while retaining our brand and autonomy.About The RoleWe are currently seeking a Senior Electrical / Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Engineer to join our growing Wastewater team, working on both domestic and international infrastructure projects.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical and ICA systems across treatment plants, pumping stations, and network infrastructure. This includes developing detailed electrical and ICA designs, overseeing construction and commissioning activities, and supporting the integration of smart and sustainable solutions within major capital projects.This role plays a key part in Nicholas O’Dwyer’s commitment to sustainability and infrastructure development — delivering innovative, resilient, and environmentally responsible engineering solutions that improve the quality of life for communities worldwide.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all aspects of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) design, design review, and construction supervision for multiple projects.Provide technical leadership on EICA matters within multidisciplinary design and supervision teams.Coordinate and deliver medium and low-voltage electrical designs and design reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and client standards.Coordinate and deliver ICA detailed designs, including system architecture, PLC/SCADA integration, and process control.Prepare and review technical specifications for EICA components on wastewater treatment and conveyance projects.Oversee site inspections, supervision, testing, and commissioning of electrical and ICA systems, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.Engage directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve design and site issues.Support and mentor junior engineers and graduate staff, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, contributing to best practices across design and delivery processes.Participate in essential training programmes as required to fulfil the role and support company-wide initiatives.Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as the role evolves to reflect project and company needs.Key RequirementsA 3rd level degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification is essential.A minimum of 7 years’ professional experience in Electrical and/or ICA Engineering, ideally within the water or wastewater infrastructure sector.Proven technical competence in electrical design and instrumentation, control and automation systems.Experience in the design of treatment plants, pumping stations, and SCADA / automation systems.Previous experience on international water or wastewater projects is highly desirable.Strong ability to lead design tasks, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineering staff.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electrical design tools (e.g. Amtech, AutoCAD, or equivalent).Excellent time management, organisation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.A proactive, agile, and solutions-driven mindset, aligned with company values and project excellence.Motivation to contribute to a company with a clear purpose — improving the quality of people’s lives through sustainable infrastructure.About UsOur mission is to deliver sustainable solutions that transform communities and bring about lasting positive change.
