The office is downtown Toronto and a 5 minute walk from Front and Yonge.The OPPORTUNITY: Our client is an enterprise operational management organization that is both environmentally and socially responsible. They are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their team! You will need a strong understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS) and compliance with government bodies. The Senior Financial Analyst role provides accurate and timely financial reporting, including the preparation of various month-end, quarter-end and year-end reconciliations and, journal entries. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide deep analysis to support data driven insights for the budgeting and forecasting cycles as well as oversee project budgets. The ideal candidate will have terrific communication and interpersonal skills as they will managing communication between internal and external stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare and analyze reports (confidential and non-confidential) of financial results for several business units. Prepare and analyze consolidated reports on actuals, forecasts and prior fiscal year. Perform account analysis and reconciliation, maintain general ledger and prepare adjusting entries and month-end accruals. Support close processes (accruals, prepaids, etc.) to ensure predictable and accurate reporting. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, internal policies and ensure government regulatory requirements are met.Analyze actual operating results and identify key financial and operating issues/quantify actual results versus forecast. Prepare monthly commentary for functional and business unit or segment reporting. Ensure accurate preparation of monthly HST reconciliations, file HST returns, and ensure remittances are made in a timely manner. Prepare timely and accurate weekly bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and forecast. Conduct an analysis of periodic KPIs and operating statistics. Consolidate confidential information provided by the business units and maintain a clear record for future reference during annual operating and capital budget process. Liaise and work with other departments and external partners to perform accounting tasks. Coordinate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of related deliverables.Monitor and interpret government policies, regulatory changes and financial directives affecting the organization. Assist in developing and implementation of an internal control and audit system on an ongoing basis. Prepare the quarterly and annual regulatory compliance deliverables. Assist in the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plan and modeling tools relating to confidential business matters. Develop financial modeling, financial statement analysis, decision modeling, reporting and ad-hoc analysis to support strategic planning and initiatives. Support ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis tasks. QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education/degree and an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA or CMA, or equivalent). Minimum 3-5 years of progressive financial/accounting experience conducting financial reporting and analysis. Technical accounting skills in IFRS, maintain highest professional ethics and standards. Experience with identifying trends and anomalies in data sets. Experience analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections. Superior interpersonal skills and excellent professional communication skills, both oral and in written format. Advanced skills with Microsoft Office combined with the ability to create complex formulas and pivot tables in Excel.Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Highly organized, possess sound judgement and has the ability to effectively problem solve and/or escalate accordingly. Resourceful self-starter, able to work independently and within a team environment. Able to handle a variety of projects and produce work that is accurate and needs to be extremely detail oriented. Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to changing priorities.
