About the RoleWe are seeking a highly analytical and commercially astute Senior Financial Modeller to join an advisory team in either JHB or Cape Town. The role is central to building and maintaining bespoke Excel-based financial models for large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, many of which involve limited recourse debt financing.You’ll work across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage feasibility to financial close and operational reporting—spanning sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, private healthcare, real estate, and agriculture. This is an opportunity to sharpen your technical skills while engaging with seasoned advisors, clients, and lenders on complex, high-impact transactions.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild, refine, and maintain advanced project finance models in Microsoft ExcelConduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess project viability and riskSupport transaction advisory and project finance workstreamsTranslate model outputs into clear, actionable insights and reportsCollaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on assumptions and structuresMaintain structured data books and version-controlled assumption sets(Senior responsibility) Review models prepared by others and mentor junior modellersRequired Skills & Experience4+ years’ relevant experience in financial modelling or project financeStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; VBA experience advantageousProven track record in developing and updating project finance modelsSolid grasp of limited recourse project finance principles and cash flow structuringAbility to convert technical results into commercial insightsStrong communication and report-writing skillsExperience with bidding processes for energy or infrastructure projects is advantageousEducationBachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative fieldPostgraduate financial qualification (e.g. CFA) beneficial but not essentialSector FocusExperience (or strong interest) in:Renewable energy and decarbonizationInfrastructure (transport, storage, transmission, etc.)Mining and natural resourcesPrivate healthcare, real estate, and agricultureWhy JoinExposure to high-profile projects across diverse sectors from day oneOpportunity to develop technical mastery in financial modelling and transaction supportPathways to transactor/dealmaker roles and leadership positions within the teamCollaborative, entrepreneurial culture with flexible working arrangementsClear career growth in a dynamic, high-impact advisory environment
