Job Description

Lead and drive Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Technical Safety performance across field operations, ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership in risk management, process safety, and continuous improvement to safeguard people, assets, and the environment HSE & Technical Safety Leadership Champion a proactive safety culture, fostering visible leadership and engagement at all organizational levels Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE and Technical Safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with the Operations Management System (OMS) Provide expert guidance on process safety, barrier management, and safety case development for offshore and onshore operations Advise management on emerging HSE risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends Risk Management & Compliance Oversee and facilitate risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie, QRA), ensuring effective identification and mitigation of operational and process safety risks Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SOLAS, MARPOL) Maintain and update the Regulatory Compliance Register and Environmental Aspects & Impacts Register Support and review Management of Change (MoC) processes for technical and operational modifications Operational Excellence Lead and participate in safety audits, inspections, and assurance activities, ensuring the integrity of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) and Environmental Critical Elements (ECEs) Monitor and report HSE performance metrics (KPIs), analyse trends, and recommend corrective/preventive actions Drive the timely closure of actions from incidents, audits, and risk assessments Incident Investigation & Learning Lead and support incident investigations (Level 2 & 3), root cause analysis (e.g., Taproot, 5 Whys), and the implementation of lessons learned Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement through HSE alerts, lessons learned, and best practice dissemination Training & Competence Deliver and coordinate HSE and technical safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors Mentor and develop junior HSE staff and operational teams in safety leadership and technical safety principles Stakeholder Engagement Interface with Production, Drilling, Projects, Maintenance, and Integrity teams to embed HSE and technical safety in all activitiesLiaise with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and external stakeholders as requiredRequirements Master's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Process Engineering, or related field NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSE certification (required) ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 internal/lead auditor certification (preferred) Minimum 8 years' HSE experience in Oil & Gas or heavy industry, with at least 3 years in a senior/lead role and significant offshore experience Proven experience in technical/process safety engineering, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance Demonstrated leadership in incident investigation, audit, and assurance processes Fluent in French and English (oral and written) Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in HSE management systems, safety engineering tools, and reporting software Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
