Be part of our intelligence hub, identifying risks to our border - and help stop threats from reaching our shores.We are looking for a motivated person to join our Customs Intelligence Unit. You will have either knowledge of Customs / the border environment or have experience in Intelligence.You will be part of the wider Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement group based in Auckland and you will report to the Supervising Customs Officer of the team. You will generally work within regular hours - Monday to Friday. The salary range for this role is $82,894 - $106,618.About You I Ko Wai KoeYou will have excellent attention to detail as well as experience in high level reportingYou are experienced in applying the Intelligence Cycle including risk management processesYou have a natural curiosity and talent for finding patterns and anomaliesYou are experienced working with large data sets and using analytical tools like Nexus, I2 Charts etcYou understand information security principles (classifications, caveats, handling and sharing of information)You thrive working under pressureYou love building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholdersYou're an experienced report writer who produces high-quality intelligence reportingYou're comfortable giving briefings to all levelsIdeally you will have intelligence experience having worked as an analyst, and have the ability to learn the operational environment at Customs. This role is intellectually challenging and requires individuals who are conscientious and adaptable and comfortable interpreting legislation.Senior Customs Officers must take responsibility in managing their own and others' skills, knowledge and expertise to ensure a multi-skilled team approach. You will also encompass the leadership skills to coach and mentor others in the team, and have the ability to act up as a Supervising Customs Officer when they are away.We're looking for people who care about their team and work well with others - you're approachable, supportive and willing to help. In order to obtain this clearance, you need to be a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 10 years and resides in NZ at time of application.OR a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 10 years and resides in NZ at time of application but may have been absent from New Zealand for periods of six or more months within the past 10 years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: *either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA. Small periods (3 months or less) of absence from New Zealand over the 10 years may still be acceptable however you must be able to provide police certificates for time spent in other countries*.You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement.Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record.
