Job Description

The Queensland Revenue Office is currently seeking to fill multiple AO5 Senior Investigations Officer - Level 1 roles across our Brisbane Office. Working in a collaborative team environment, this position will see you conduct and contribute to investigations and audits to ensure compliance with Queensland’s revenue laws, or make determinations on complex matters. You will also assist team leaders and managers in leading compliance teams in the treatment of risks to Queensland revenue, as well as identifying new or emerging risks and making recommendations for their treatment.

The Queensland Revenue Office is currently seeking to fill multiple AO5 Senior Investigations Officer - Level 1 roles across our Brisbane office. Working in a collaborative team environment, this position will see you conduct and contribute to investigations and audits to ensure compliance with Queensland's revenue laws, or make determinations on complex matters.

You will also assist team leaders and managers in leading compliance teams in the treatment of risks to Queensland revenue, as well as identifying new or emerging risks and making recommendations for their treatment. Your typical day as a Senior Investigations Officer - Level 1 may include: Identifying and addressing instances of non-compliance with revenue laws through audit or investigation Reviewing client lodgements, and making determinations about taxation liabilities or exemptions Writing reports, analysing data, interpreting legislation and liaising with professional advisors Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues to help them grow and learn.

About The Divisions The Payroll Tax and Betting Tax Division administers payroll tax, mental health levy and betting tax legislation. The Royalty and Complex Assessments division makes assessments and determinations across duties and royalty legislation as well as determining eligibility for ex gratia relief under a number of administrative arrangements. The Duties and Grants Division administers duties and grants legislation. The Land Tax Division administers Queensland's land tax and carries out activities that include supporting and educating clients on their land tax obligations.

Vacancies currently exist within the Payroll tax, Mental Health Levy (MHL) & Betting Tax division, however this process may be used to fill similar roles in other QRO divisions and revenue lines in Brisbane. There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, although to be successful you will need:

the capability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation experience in an audit, investigation, administrative decision making, legal or similar role, preferably in a financial or tax environment a working knowledge of digital and data technology/systems the capability to apply your own knowledge and skills to solve problems collaborativelyThe positions are based in our Brisbane office and flexible work options may be requested.
