The opportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Marketing & Business Development Executive/ Advisor to join the Sydney office. You will provide dedicated marketing and business development support to a number of practice and sector groups operating in the Sydney office, as well as in some areas at an APAC level.Experience in the legal sector or professional services environment is highly desirable. You’ll also engage regularly with members of the Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team across the APAC region and globally. We’re looking for someone who is energetic, creative, and globally minded, with a proven track record in marketing and business development - ready to make an immediate impact.Collaborative and committed to creating a valuable service to the firm, we are focused on providing the best service to all Bird & Bird employees, partners and clients.Duties & Responsibilities:Supporting the Senior MBD Manager and the Head of Marketing and Business Development (Asia Pacific) in the delivery of the marketing and business development strategies and programmes.Supporting the Heads of Country, Australia and the partners of the Australian office to achieve their MBD strategic objectives and goals across sectors and practices.Proactive MBD business planning and execution, ensuring that outcomes from initiatives are monitored and reviewed effectively.Ambassador for the Bird & Bird brand in all interactions, with internal and external stakeholders.Driving Business GrowthSupport the Senior MBD Manager in identifying key trends and topics to inform business development strategy.Facilitate cross-selling opportunities across sectors, practices, and regions.Assist with bids and tenders, collaborating with fee earners and the MBD team to develop compelling proposals using Loopio and other tools.Develop and manage targeted campaigns/initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.Focus on firmwide ‘G30’ portfolio clients by identifying marketing opportunities and promoting client service tools.Contribute to development initiatives for top Australian clients.Delivering Bold Market PresenceLead and support the planning and logistics of client and external events, working closely with fee earners, Office Services, and IT to manage invitations, RSVPs, materials, follow-ups, and value-add content.Ensure smooth delivery of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events, including occasional support for regional APAC virtual events.Contribute to BD initiatives such as events, industry association partnerships, and social media - creating and sharing content on Australian social media accounts aligned with our MBD priorities and policies.Working with the Senior MBD Manager to manage the directories and award submissions process across Australian categories, including tracking and managing deadlines.Conduct company and client research using CRM, account reports, and external systems.Assist with HR-led brand awareness and talent attraction campaigns as needed.Providing Next-Gen SupportSupport the Senior MBD Manager in managing the MBD budget, including advising on the value and opportunity cost of initiatives.Track and report on new business leads generated through MBD activities.Work with the MBD Admin Assistant in tracking experience descriptions/credentials from across all groups. Maintain accurate Australian local records and ensure timely uploads to the global credentials system.Help manage key MBD infrastructure such as the intranet, website, CRM, and pitch content.Create and update high-quality marketing materials, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines. Incorporating relevant experience updates and fee earner contact details.Respond to general MBD queries and provide support across systems and processes.Attend relevant MBD, sector, and practice meetings, contributing to agendas and follow-ups.Share Australian market insights and team updates across APAC and global MBD teams.Assist with producing and editing video, photos, and webinar content to support marketing initiatives.Contribute to the development of innovative and efficient MBD processes in Australia.Skills and Attributes:Knowledge and skillsDegree qualified, ideally in marketing or related field, with a strong academic record.2-3 years' experience in MBD, preferably within legal or professional services industry in a generalist MBD role.Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills with high attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Social media savvy, creative, and solutions-focused.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to manage key stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated commercial awareness and strategic thinking.Excellent English language skills (written and verbal).Technically confident and quick to learn new MBD systems.What will we offer you?Company CultureAs an international commercial law firm, we encourage open communication and transparency, especially important as we are open plan allowing easy access to our senior leaders.
