Senior Mechanical Engineer

JDL Recruitment are thrilled to be closely partnered with a leading European Data Centre general contractor, as they look to incorporate an experienced Mechanical Engineer to their data centre construction team.ResponsibilitiesReview mechanical design packages to identify gaps, deviations, or inconsistencies in project specifications and IFC drawings.Generate and track RFIs to resolve design or coordination issues.Validate mechanical system designs, including HVAC, chilled water, and piping systems, and propose optimisation opportunities.Manage submittals, procurement tracking, and verification of mechanical equipment deliveries.Conduct on-site inspections and walk-downs to ensure compliance with design intent and project standards.Coordinate with BIM and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration between mechanical, electrical, and architectural elements.Attend subcontractor and supplier meetings, monitoring progress against schedule, cost, and quality KPIs.Ensure compliance with all operational, health, and safety regulations.Prepare detailed method statements and risk assessments for mechanical installation activities.Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting efforts as required.Maintain accurate documentation and update all relevant project logs and records.QualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within mechanical and electrical contracting.Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems for mission-critical or data centre environments.Proven experience managing subcontractors and maintaining effective client relationships.Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.Proficient in MS Word and Excel.A mechanical trade background or qualification is advantageous.What’s on OfferOpportunity to work on large-scale hyperscale data centre projects across Europe.Competitive salary and rotation package.Collaborative, high-performing team culture.Strong opportunities for career progression and professional development.
