Position Title: Senior or Principal Data AnalystTeam and Group: National Transport Modelling | Sector StrategyPosition Type: Permanent, Full Time (38 hours per week)Location: Wellington CBDSalary: Senior Data Analyst - $109,208per annum (+ KiwiSaver) Principal Data Analyst - $137,527 - $170,664 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)About the opportunity | Ngā whakamārama mō te tūngaWe are looking for either a Senior or a Principal level Data Analyst to join the National Transport Modelling team.The National Transport Modelling Team is responsible for the development, running, and analysis of the National Transport Model (Monty). The Monty modelling stack includes population and activity synthesis, network generation, agent-based network simulation, and output processing. We provide data handling, modelling, and analytics capability to inform strategy, policy, and development for the Ministry and the wider transport sector. It is a thrilling project.This position is Wellington based only.What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a koeWe are seeking candidates with:Experience contributing to a compute and data software technologyExperience or great interest in the Julia programming language, Terraform/OpenTofu, and the Nix package and environment management languageExperience with Linux and cloud computingExperience specifying mathematical procedures given domain specific informationWell-developed organisational skills, and ability to work autonomously and meet deadlinesExperience communicating technical concepts, in writing and verballyA sound understanding of modelling, programming, and computingUnderstanding of the fundamentals of statistical/machine learningA knowledge of a range of mathematical modelling techniques.As our incoming principal data analyst, you will also bring extensive analytical and programming skills. You will have experience leading and managing projects, collaborating with and mentoring others.
