We currently hold more than 550 patents worldwide, and roughly 44% of them are related to sustainability and clean technologyAbout the role:The Senior Process Engineer drives innovation and leads the design and execution of advanced process equipment systems, specializing in spray drying, evaporation, and hygienic processing. This role is part of the Small-Scale Plant (SSPP) team, which focuses on compact, high-efficiency systems for pilot plants, R&D, and niche production environments. Combining deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, the engineer ensures compliance with regulatory standards, exceeds customer expectations, and fosters a culture of technical excellence by mentoring and developing engineering talent.About your responsibilities at SPX FLOW Develop and validate process solutions, including process flowsheets, P&ID diagrams, equipment specifications, layouts, and piping diagrams (2D/3D).Perform design calculations for process equipment (e.g., spray dryers, evaporators).Ensure compliance with internal design standards, industry best practices, and legal/regulatory requirements.Lead design reviews and risk assessments in accordance with EU directives (e.g., Machinery Directive, PED).Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.Guarantee seamless integration of subsystems and clarity in external interfaces.Prepare comprehensive operating instructions, O&M manuals, and technical files.Maintain structured and accessible design documentation.Lead technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.Collaborate with Supply Chain, Mechanical, Automation, Electrical, and Commissioning teams to ensure project success.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and new team members.Support onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.Provide expert technical input during pre-contract phases, including feasibility studies and site surveys.Review and enhance technical content in proposals and quotations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAt least 7 years of relevant experience (Dry processing)Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food, or Dairy Engineering.Extensive experience in process engineering within hygienic industries (dairy, food, beverage, pharma).Strong expertise in spray dryers, evaporators, tanks, and associated process equipment.Proficient in hygienic design principles, CIP/SIP systems, and material selection (SS304/316L, Duplex).Proven ability to lead complex projects and collaborate across global teams.Skilled in engineering tools (AutoCAD, SAP, Microsoft Office)Experience with Functional Design Specifications (FDS) is required.Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.About the company globallyAt SPX FLOW, sustainability is more than a buzzword.
