Senior Quantity Surveyor

Key responsibilities: Responsible for management of projects of varying project values with minimum R 50 million from Project Inception up Project Close Out. Demonstrated expertise in Project Life Cyle costing and Value Engineering. Identifies opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products to improve services to clients. Act as Principal Agent including chairing of key meeting associated with other consultants and contractors. Strong Knowledge of different types of Principal Building (JBCC) and Engineering contract (NEC, FIDIC). Proficiency in the use of project cost software i.e QsPlus and/or WinQS; Dimension X. Working with office management to prepare bids for new work and development of new business opportunities.Role includes involvement in the following:Stage 1 DeliverablesAgreed scope of work. Agreed services. Signed agreementStage 2 DeliverablesPreliminary estimate/s of construction cost. Elemental or equivalent estimate/s of construction cost. Space allocation audit for the project.Stage 3 DeliverablesDetailed estimate/s of construction cost. Area schedules.Stage 4 DeliverablesBudget of construction cost. Tender documentation. Financial evaluation of tenders. Priced contract documentation. Joint Building Contract (JBCC), New Engineering Contract (NEC) and FIDIC Contracts.Stage 5 DeliverablesSchedules of predicted cashflow. Estimates for proposed variations. Financial control reports. Valuations for payment certificates. Progressive and draft final accounts. Stage 6 DeliverablesValuations for payment certificates. Final accounts. Job RequirementsAt least a minimum of 10 (ten) years plus, post professional registration experience in the field of professional quantity surveying. Solid experience in a range of building/construction and engineering projects. Previous experience in a professional consulting firm/organisation specialising in quantity surveying and/or construction cost management. Registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) is essential.Required skills Excellent report writing skills. Fully computer literate and have an advanced use of quantity surveying computer software particularly QsPlus and/or WinQS for estimating and BoQ for measuring and monthly contractors claims valuations.
