Job Description
Be responsible for managing and optimizing Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, ensuring system security, stability, and performance through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and automation. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional IT teams, supports incident response and disaster recovery efforts, and drives continuous improvements in infrastructure reliability and efficiency.Specific Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdministering and maintaining Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including patching, updates, upgrades, and performance tuningProviding after-hours on-call support, responding to and resolving system incidents and alerts promptly and efficientlyImplementing and managing change management processes, ensuring all changes to the infrastructure are properly documented, tested, and executedPerforming security hardening and vulnerability assessments on servers, implementing security best practices, and responding to security incidentsMonitoring system performance, capacity, and availability using various monitoring tools, proactively identifying and resolving issuesCollaborating with other IT teams, including network, database, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration and supportParticipating in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing, ensuring the ability to recover systems in the event of an outageAutomating system administration tasks using scripting languages like Python, Ansible, PowerShell or even Bash, improving efficiency and reducing manual effortCreating and maintaining documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidesStaying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in server administration, security, and operationsCOMPETENCIESCore Competencies (Must-have Competencies)At least 3 years of experience with Server Administration, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems and Windows ServerAt least 3 years of experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere and vCenter, and Red Hat OpenStackAt least 3 years of experience with scripting languages and automation tools like Ansible, Python, PowerShell and BashAt least 3 years of recent experience working with legacy tools and systems such as Solaris, AIX, and HP-UXStrong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routingSolid knowledge of security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability managementComplementary Competencies (Good-to-have Competencies)Experience working in a 24/7 operational environmentFamiliarity with DevOps practices and principlesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesWillingness to participate in after-hours on-call rotationKnowledge of change management processes and proceduresAbility to adapt to changing priorities and technologiesQualificationsEducational Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fieldsWork ConditionsWork from Home SetupAmenable to be assigned on a rotating schedule (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM PHT)
