Senior Test Specialist

afarax is looking for a freelance Senior Test Specialist. We need you!The project:Our client in the utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Test Specialist to strengthen their team.Role and responsibilities:Execute sanity and regression tests as part of the SAT test cycle.Design and execute test scenarios for new functional changes and project deliveries.Handle ad hoc requests from the Problem & Change Analyst related to system or process behaviour analysis.Log and follow up defects in Micro Focus ALM QC, strictly adhering to the defect management procedures and ensuring robust quality control.Perform retesting once fixes are delivered and accurately document results in the test logging tool.Log and follow up test-environment incidents in the ITSM tool (Topdesk).Report to the Test Coordinator, while interacting daily with the Test Team Lead.Be able to operate across different functional domains; willingness to learn, assimilate, and share newly acquired knowledge with the team is essential.Work with test tools: MF ALM QC for defect management and Hammer, a semi-automated custom SOAP UI–based tool for message-exchange testing.Use and adapt SQL queries; the ability to write simple to moderately complex queries is a strong plus.Read and interpret Technical Design Documents (If/Then/Else logic).Apply a critical mindset to challenge product quality, especially regarding integration with the main branch.Work in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum environments.Contribute to regular knowledge-sharing sessions within the team and for onboarding new analysts or testers.Communicate proactively with the Test Coordinator and Test Team Lead about progress, blockers, risks, and team-related topics.Participate in daily stand-ups, vendor alignment meetings (SCRUM/defect follow-up), and ad hoc sessions with impacted market parties (DGO/market actors).Demonstrate strong team spirit, open communication, and mutual respect — values that are central.Is this you?At least 5 years of proven experience as a Test Specialist (Senior level).Strong experience in writing detailed test scenarios.Solid knowledge of formal testing methodologies and techniques.Excellent active knowledge of Dutch.ISTQB Foundation Level certification (or higher).Experience with sanity/regression testing of settlement processes.At least 6 years of proven experience as a Functional Software Tester.Proven expertise in Belgian energy-market business domains: structure, measurement, rectification, IMV/SMR3, DEX, FEX.Experience logging and tracking defects in ALM QC.Proven experience with requirements analysis and If/Then/Else logic.Strong expertise in SoapUI, XML, and DevOps practices.Strong ability to write and execute SQL queries (6+ years).Proven knowledge of MIG-DGO/MIG6 and the Belgian energy sector.Language requirement: Dutch-speaking or French-speaking at CEFR C1 level.How afarax supports you?You benefit from our extensive networkYou will have access to projects that fit your expertiseWe help and support you throughout your projectWe offer the possibility to build a valuable and lasting partnershipCheck out more projects on: https://afarax.be/jobs/type/freelance/
