Playcentre operates over 400 Playcentres throughout the country.Whataupoko Playcentre is seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child led play. As a Session Facilitator, you will work alongside our Centre whānau to open sessions, guide activities, and facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child led play and positive guidance.You will support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.Let your inner author shine writing learning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with exploring their light bulb moments. We are all about mentoring and supporting centre whānau/ members and tamariki as they explore and learn together during these very special years.  Position DescriptionClick here to view or download the full Position DescriptionStart Date29 January 2026Days & HoursMonday 9.00am – 12.15pm, Thursday 9.00am – 12.30pm, Friday 9.00am – 12.15pm. 10 hours per week total.This is a permanent position during school term time onlyWe will be reviewing applications upon receipt and an appointment may be made before the closing date.The Ideal Candidate WillHold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.  or Primary Teaching that has completed the Playcentre Primary Teacher Bridging Award or be prepared to complete the Bridging Award.     Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.Please contact us if you have queries about your qualifications in relation to this role.Desirable Skills And Experience Will IncludeKnowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
