After School Staff Member

Position DescriptionThe After-School Explorers [ASE] and After-School Adventurers [ASA] programs provides extended-day care and enrichment classes for PK-5th grade students at Shady Side Academy's Junior School campus in Point Breeze and Country Day School campus in Fox Chapel, respectively. Staff members interact and play with students while ensuring that they are safe, well-supervised, and get to scheduled activities on time.

Primary ResponsibilitiesTo take attendance for a designated group of students upon arrivalTo inform the Director, via walkie-talkie or in person, if a student is not presentTo organize a group game or supervise unstructured play time before or after snack timeTo ensure that students put all materials away once they have finished using themTo know and follow rules of school and remind students to do the same when in attendance at After SchoolTo be familiar with each student's schedule and send student to scheduled activities on timeTo be energetic and interact with studentsTo work cooperatively with colleaguesTo supervise snack time in the cafeteria and make sure students clean upTo inform other staff members of group location for most efficient use of spaceTo respond to requests for students in assigned group to be sent to dismissal areaTo think of creative games and activities that will engage studentsTo communicate with fellow staff members and Director regarding student behaviorTo provide feedback and offer suggestions for ways to make the program betterTo show up consistently and on time for dutiesTo participate in staff meetings and trainings when requiredCompensationHourly wage of $15-$20, depending upon experienceApplication InformationShady Side Academy is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability.
