General Purpose:Under general supervision, provides comprehensive speech therapy andlanguage development services to a specified population of residents. Screensand evaluates residents; develops and implements therapeutic speech andlanguage development program and services.Essential Job FunctionsThis facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork withother employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, thefollowing list of duties is not all-inclusive:Examines, tests, diagnoses, and administers treatments for residents withspeech and language disorders, hearing disorders, and oral motordisorders.Performs evaluations with particular attention to receptive and expressivelanguage skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence,articulation, and auditory skills.Maintains communication with the resident and others concernedregarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related tothe therapeutic process.Facilitates behavior management in residents and families as appropriateto the needs of the resident.Maintains records of work performed. Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors of Science Degree in Speech Therapy Current license in state of practice. Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identifiedareas of specialization.Organized and detailed in work performance. Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience. Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursingfacility.
