Our flagship projects, such as the Digital Learning Hub in a Bag, EasySTEM Server, and Sensebod AI Platform, are bridging access to quality education in remote and underserved communities through offline-first and AI-enabled technologies.Role OverviewEasySTEM seeks a Software Development Intern to support the design, development, and optimisation of web and mobile applications that power our educational and AI solutions. The intern will work closely with our technical team to build, test, and deploy software that scales across diverse connectivity and device environments.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing and maintaining EasySTEM’s learning and data platforms.Support integration of backend APIs, databases, and AI components.Contribute to UI/UX improvements and user testing for mobile/web applications.Participate in code reviews, documentation, and version control management.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, AI, and content).Qualifications and SkillsProficiency or demonstrable willingness to improve in Python, Django, or Node.js, with experience in React or similar frameworks, is an advantage.Familiarity or willingness to learn with REST APIs, Git, and cloud or local server deployment (AWS, Azure, Raspberry Pi).Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in technology for social impact.Experience or curiosity about offline-first systems, AI for Education, or EdTech for Africa is a plus.BenefitsHands-on experience building impactful technology solutions for real communities.Mentorship from experienced engineers and innovators.Opportunity to contribute to open-source and AI-driven EdTech projects.Certificate and reference upon successful completion.A monthly stipend will be provided to cover transportation and related costs, with additional benefits based on performance and dedication.No degree required — applicants with strong creative or technical skills are encouraged to apply.How to ApplyInterested candidates should send: A short cover letter (max 1 page) outlining their motivation and relevant experience.
