Strong English communication skills are required, as you'll be working closely with our US-based team.Note: This position is open only to candidates residing full time in Baguio City, Philippines. Please note the role is 100% on-site. We are looking for someone who can start immediately.As a Backend Software Engineer at School Basics, you help design, implement, and optimize systems that power critical applications for daily operations, including:Infrastructure: Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance systems (ERP) to ensure operational reliability.Platform: Develop robust APIs and developer tools to improve team efficiency and scalability.Product: Engineer backend services that support customer-facing services to deliver seamless user experiences.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain backend systems that support key business operations.Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Work with databases, internal APIs, and backend services to ensure performance and scalability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend functionality.Participate in code reviews, system testing, and contribute to best practices in backend development.Brings experience across different programming languages and technologies, with a flexible and adaptable approach to problem-solving.Ensure reliable documentation and maintain clean, well-organized codebases.Contribute to improving our data capture capabilities and product features.Who You AreMust speak English fluently.Minimum 3 years of professional experience in backend development.Proficient in one or more languages such as Node.js, Python, or Java, and willing to switch between them as needed.Comfortable with SQL, Git, and working with RESTful APIs.Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative attitude.Able to work independently, but open to guidance and feedback from peers and team leads.Open to working full-time (9 AM – 5 PM EST schedule). What We Offer₱70,000 gross monthly salaryTravel expenses coveredFull benefits packagePaid vacation time – 3-week allotment after your first 90 daysCollaborative, growth-oriented work environmentOpportunities to work on U.S.-based projects and systems
