Software Engineer

What you will do. A glimpse in your role:The holder of this position is responsible for the development and support of .NET C# backend applications with highest quality and commitment through the entire software development lifecycle. He/she will be part of a scrum team and contribute his/her efforts towards the goals set forth for the team in alignment within the guidelines and quality criteria established by the development organization.Every action has an impact. You will make a difference here if:Design, develop, unit test, and deploy APIs and microservices based on the Microsoft .NET technology stack.Research and evaluate software-related technologies and products.Develop high-quality code that meets business and technical requirements.Create and maintain software documentation and update existing documentation.Implement best practices, design patterns, standards, and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies.Ensure compliance with documented software processes and procedures throughout the software lifecycle.Work within an Agile team setup.Collaborate closely with other development teams, product owners/managers, and business analysts to determine functionalities and implementation.Provide support for Level 1 and Level 2 application support teams (ITSM).Design and develop performant asynchronous solutions utilizing message broker architectures.Take an active role in continuous improvement initiatives.Key competencies to empower your journey. You'll drive towards success if:Independent and self-motivated personality.Excellent team player.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication skills in English (oral and written).Ability to work effectively in routine, technology-related work settings.Enjoy working in a multicultural environment.SkillsExcellent and thorough understanding of Microsoft .NET technologies, including .NET 8+, C#, and ASP.NET Core.Competency in RabbitMQ or similar message broker architectures is a strong plus.Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and principles.Strong knowledge of software design patterns.Strong competency in RESTful API development.Experience writing clean code with strong attention to software quality.Experience working with relational databases (MS SQL Server), particularly in performance-related areas.Solid command of debugging tools, frameworks, and methodologies.Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies, ideally Scrum.Experience with continuous integration and deployment.Experience with TDD and testing practices, including unit, integration, load, and performance testing.Experience designing and developing performant asynchronous solutions.Experience with performance testing and application monitoring.Qualifications and education requirementsBachelor’s degree or equivalent technical education in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, or similar).More than 3 years of experience in a professional software engineering environment using Microsoft technologies.Hands-on experience working within Agile software development methodologies, ideally in an international or multi-division organization.Strong English language skills (oral and written).Reporting and collaborationThe holder of this position will be part of the Customs Adapters team and reports directly to the CAS UoV DevLead.Location:📍 Bratislava, Slovakia - Hybrid model: 2 days per month in our Vienna (Austria) office⚠️ Please note: Candidates must already be based in Slovakia and hold a valid Slovakian work permit.
