We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Specialist, Communications to support corporate communications initiatives for the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury. What You Will DoCollaborate with the communications team to develop and execute earned media strategies to generate coverage for the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury’s off-court initiatives. Draft media materials including media briefs, talking points, advisories, and press releases. Work cross-functionally with marketing, corporate partnerships, ticket sales and service, and Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation teams to identify story opportunities.

Manage speaking engagements; create executive briefsProactively pitch stories to media and staff media interviews. Manage day-to-day media requests by coordinating interview availability and providing relevant background materials. Build and maintain positive relationships with local media. Monitor media and social media coverage and conversation. Create weekly and monthly media coverage recap reports. Maintain and update media contact lists and databases. Develop and oversee a calendar of appearances, events and announcements. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism or public relations.

This position works mainly indoors, removed from extreme weather; exposure to weather is S-Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Must be able to carry on a conversation both on the phone and in-person.
