JOB TITLE & JOB DESCRIPTION: RESIDENT ENGINEERJohn R Harris & Partners – Dubai is currently looking for a Sr. Resident Engineer to join our growing supervision team to support recent project appointments in UAE. The ideal candidate shall be a senior professional with architectural / civil/structural engineering background with strong technical capabilities with a minimum of 20 years of work experience of which 15 years shall be within UAE. The candidate is expected to have excellent leadership and communication skills and shall have the ability to oversee multiple construction projects. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide senior-level leadership across multiple project sites, ensuring all teams execute work according to design, specifications, and industry best practices.Lead multi-site inspections, proactively identifying risks and driving solutions that safeguard progress, safety, and performance.Oversee and approve engineering drawings, method statements, and material submissions, ensuring technical accuracy and constructability.Deliver high-level technical guidance to resolve complex engineering and construction issues.Champion adherence to codes, standards, and contractual requirements across all project locations.Establish and enforce strict quality control systems across all sites.Lead audits and compliance reviews, ensuring materials, workmanship, and site activities meet project and regulatory standards.Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all teams follow HSE regulations and best practices.Direct progress tracking and performance reviews, ensuring milestones are met and corrective actions are implemented promptly.Produce high-quality reports and executive-level updates for clients, consultants, and senior management.Monitor contractor performance and provide leadership in assessing variations, claims, and contractual compliance.Guide review of change orders, schedule impacts, and cost implications.Identify risks early, lead mitigation planning, and escalate critical issues with clear, actionable recommendations.Facilitate high-level coordination between design and site teams, ensuring effective communication and fast issue resolution.Represent the project in strategic meetings, offering authoritative technical input and leadership direction.Lead, mentor, and develop site engineers, inspectors, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.Oversee resource planning and team deployment across multiple sites.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s/master's degree in architecture/civil/construction engineering (PMP/Management degrees would be an added advantage).Certified engineer with UAE and/or GCC engineering membership.Knowledge of local construction laws and regulations.Knowledge in international and regional construction codes & standards.Excellent command of written and spoken English.Commercial management experience.Understanding of FIDIC contracts.Experience in programming construction activities.Experience in HSE and sustainability parameters and regulations.
