The role of the staff research lead position involves assisting with the coordination of activities involving staff, students, and volunteers within the Surgical Research Facility (SRF) on the UC Davis campus. Working under the general direction of the SRF Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the efforts of multiple Principal Investigators (PIs) who utilize the facility. It includes collaborating with other departments and the Operating Room (OR) Supervisor to ensure that the SRF meets its objectives, complies with regulations and guidelines, and serves investigators and clients effectively. This role also includes Administrative functions to ensure accurate and timely charge capture for all services within the service area of responsibility. The staff researcher will provide support for the research activities aimed at developing innovative advancements utilized in clinical trials and enhancing the understanding of various diseases through research conducted within the Surgical Research Facility. This position plays a vital role in securing future program project and disease team grant funding and contributes to the overall success of the SRF and the Stem Cell Program in their pursuit to discover novel treatments for patients suffering from currently incurable diseases, ultimately saving lives.Apply By Date: 12/8/2025 by 11:59pmMinimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the positionBS degree in Biological Sciences/Animal Sciences/other science degree, or equivalent number of years with extensive animal experience in a veterinary/Lab setting.Previous experience working in a large animal research facility.Demonstrated ability operating anesthesia equipment.Demonstrated ability with restraint, induction, intubation, recovery, and euthanasia procedures in large animal models.Knowledge of requirements for laboratory safety, and compliance with occupational health, IACUC, Biosafety, and EH&S guidelines.Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory inventories, animal databases.Advanced knowledge of administrative/business software, computer systems, database, web/email applications.Demonstrated ability maintaining training documents and OR records.Preferred QualificationsStandard Operating Procedure development and writing.Regulatory compliance and requirements pertaining to GLP polices.Federal policies and procedures applicable to GLP studies.Knowledge of science, basic human anatomy, and medical terminology.Key Responsibilities65% - SRF Operating Room Procedural Practices and Regulatory Compliance35% - SRF Project ManagementDepartment OverviewThe School of Medicine (SOM) Surgical Research Facility (SRF) is located on the UC Davis campus.
