Japan, POSITION: Stamping Production Engineering SpecialistREPORTS TO: Group Leader, Stamping Production EngineeringArea of Accountability: Production Engineering and Facility Engineering departments.Daily Production:Conduct Root Cause analysis on Safety and Production/Quality issues and support or lead countermeasure implementation.Support or Lead Focus Cell Activities to kaizen equipment issues using Fault Data analysis. Use structured approach to systematically identify and fix equipment issues.Provides guidance/directs Maintenance TMs as required during projects or during major repairs.Coordinate and prioritize daily activities with Maintenance and Production/PC groups to obtain line-time and make enhancements and implement Kaizen.Continuous Improvement:Observe internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify, and initiate opportunities for process improvement.Utilize engineering practices, and principles to optimize press parameters including SPM improvement, line balancing, error proofing, scrap reduction, and other tools of lean manufacturing. Responsible for preparation of cost reduction proposals on production and maintenance consumables.Production Engineering/Model Launches and ECIs:Conceptualize and Create Process Plans for newly awarded parts and determine requirements for equipment, processes, products, or capacity of new or existing production lines.Determine requirements/modifications required to equipment for process change/engineering changes (ECI). Planning and commissioning new dies by developing delivery and trial schedules. Monitoring CAE and die design data during the new die launch process. Update plant Layout based on current and future die and coil requirements and liaise with Logistics and Production departments to design and create optimal material and Team Member flow.Direct “Model Launch Teams” as required to achieve goals, and Targets of project. Develop concepts and formalize specifications to the point that the supplier can bid, and complete design on both new/existing die (and equipment).Write specifications for equipment, obtain supplier bids, and write purchase orders, and supplier contracts. Obtain necessary permits, and approvals from regulating bodies such as the Ministry of Environment, Ontario electrical safety inspection, TSSA, etc.Obtain Pre-start health & safety reviews for adherence to OHSA.Produces detailed designs, drawings, and documents for various installations using AutoCAD & SolidWorks.Supervisory:Direct contractors and trades people as necessary in performing related work including providing orientation and training and ensuring safe work practices.Direct co-op students and manage priority list for co-op tasks within the Engineering department.Other:Demonstrate an understanding of FIO’s Environmental Policy and participate in programs that enhance environmental performance. Identify, and communicate any potential nonconformances.Demonstrate an understanding of the significant environmental impacts of your work activities; follow work instructions to ensure positive environmental performance is sustained. Understand the consequences of delineating from them. Demonstrate an understanding of the EPRP (Emergency Preparedness Response Plan).Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Engineering Degree in one of the following: Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of three (3-4) years previous manufacturing engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environmentProactive, and self-motivated with strong initiative to make improvements in systems, and procedures.Familiarity with cold/hot stamping, robotics, metallurgy, and automation control in an industrial manufacturing environment is an asset but not required.Sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities.Ability to support overtime as required.Strong capability to perform root cause analysis on complex problems.Able to coordinate and lead projects from concept to completion.Excellent computer skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office applications.Sound judgment in decision making, establishing priorities and maintaining schedules.Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
