DescriptionTITLE: Antelope Valley Mentoring program coordinatorOBJECTIVE: To lead, support, and expand Stars’ mentoring, ensuring students and familiesare connected to transformational relationships that promote academic, emotional, andcommunity well-being. ScopeThis position functions across all Stars programs, engaging with students, families, mentors,and staff to implement comprehensive mentoring. ClassificationThis position is classified as non-exempt. Hours40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. Compensation$23. 00–$27. 00 per hourDuties And ResponsibilitiesMENTORINGImplement and expand Stars’ mentoring model, with a focus on culturally affirming, faith-informed, and trauma-responsive practices. Recruit, screen, and train mentors; provide ongoing support and professional development.
Engage and build relationships with system-impacted youth across Antelope Valley to recruit and enroll participants into mentoring groups. Ensure that at least 210 unduplicated youth are matched with a caring adult mentor and participate in a minimumof six mentoring sessions by June 1, 2027. Redesign and implement safety policies and engagement protocols for mentors and mentees. Facilitate mentor-student activities that promote trust, leadership, and academic/social development. Network with local mentoring organizations and explore partnerships for program expansion. Provide vision and structure to ensure mentoring supports students in cultural identity,higher education pathways, social responsibility, and spiritual exploration.
Internal Team RoleParticipate in regular supervision and vision alignment meetings with the Associate Director. Collaborate with the Mentoring Team through regular meetings focused on strategy, problem-solving, alignment, and reporting. Contribute to organizational strategic planning and the development of program goals. Use monday. com to communicate progress, update tasks, and keep team membersinformed of key activities and milestones. Represent Stars at relevant community meetings, trainings, and conferences. Support broader Stars initiatives and events as needed. QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in mentoring or youth development. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative teams and build strong community partnerships.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, project management software and experience with CRM systems. Strong facilitation, training, and communication skills. Ability to work across cultures and faith traditions with humility and sensitivity. Written/spoken Spanish is a plus. Commitment to Stars’ mission, vision, and values.
