Job Description

Steel Project ManagerKey Responsibilities:Project Planning & CoordinationDevelop project plans, schedules, and budgets for steel fabrication and erection projects.Coordinate with engineers, estimators, drafters, fabricators, and field teams to ensure seamless project execution.Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts.Identify scope changes and manage change orders effectively.Project Execution & ManagementOversee fabrication and erection activities to ensure adherence to design, schedule, and safety requirements.Monitor project progress and performance using project management tools and reports.Manage procurement of materials, subcontractor coordination, and logistics.Conduct regular site visits and meetings with clients and field teams.Financial & Risk ManagementTrack project costs, invoices, and budgets; ensure profitability.Prepare cost forecasts and financial reports for management and stakeholders.Identify and mitigate project risks and delays.Quality & Safety AssuranceEnsure compliance with company quality standards, project specifications, and industry codes (AISC, AWS, OSHA, etc.).Promote and enforce safety policies and procedures on job sites.Client & Stakeholder CommunicationServe as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and general contractors.Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates.Resolve technical and contractual issues promptly and professionally.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).Experience: 5+ years of project management experience in structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection.Technical Skills:Proficiency with steel detailing drawings, fabrication processes, and erection methods.Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).Strong understanding of AISC and AWS standards.Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication abilities; detail-oriented; problem-solving mindset.Certifications (Preferred): PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent construction management credentials.Work Environment:Combination of office and field work (fabrication shop visits and job site inspections).Requires travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
