Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionJOB TITLE: Strategic Material Estimator – MechanicalDEPARTMENT: Supply ChainREPORTS TO: Director of Supply ChainPrimary Function Of PositionNegotiates, compiles and processes material pricing for customer RFQ’s. Works with Supply Chain team to select appropriate suppliers per Libra and customer requirements. Description Of DutiesExecute strategic material quote packages for customer RFQ’sAnalyze product prints, specifications and requirements to identify appropriate suppliers for quoteAnalyze supplier feedback and historical performance to select winnerReview outside processing requirements, acquire pricing and apply to quoteWork with Supply Chain team to identify and develop new suppliers Negotiate pricing, supply target pricing to generate competitive marketPerform periodic competitive bids and move product based on cost comparisonsWork with Program Management to learn quote drivers and adapt as appropriateDevelop and analyze supplier capability matrix to generate most accurate/robust material pricingUnderstand customer requirements and flow down to suppliers as necessaryReview supplier performance and adjust spend as necessaryIdentify opportunities for customer cost reduction and lead time improvement Meet quote due date schedulesKeep current on industry and market trends – raw material cost, commodity updates, etc. Interaction with Sales, internal Supply Chain, Suppliers, Quality and OperationsSkills /Experience PrefferedAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environmentAbility to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional mannerDetail oriented, accurate presentation of dataAble to meet strict deadlinesExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational and analytical skillsAbility to be an effective team member and display initiativeProficient in MS Word and Excel, ERP experience essential10 years’ experience in mechanical environment, hands on experience recommended (CNC, lathe, mill, etc.)Understanding of, and experience with, manufacturing processes and techniques5 years external material quoting and print/specification reading experience Material quoting experience with varied industries such as medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, robotics, and food grade equipment is desirable5 years Supply Chain experience – supplier approval, evaluation and controlEducation RequiredAssociates or Bachelor’s degree / Journeyman machinist certificate, a combination of education and experience or equivalents in experiencePosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Physical RequirementWhile performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight. You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.Work EnvironmentThis position will work in both office and shop environments. In the shop you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in the shop area.
