Job – Procurement Manager (Strategic Sourcing Manager – R&D / Lab Consumables & Equipment) Location: New Haven CT – (60% onsite requirement)Pay Rate: $50 – $80/hr. on W2Duration: 8 Months Job Overview:Team is expanding its Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) R&D team to support global research and development in new therapeutic areas and modalities. This role supports the company’s “Growth Through Innovation (GTI)” program — focused on advancing rare disease medicines to over 100 countries.As a Procurement Manager, you will lead category strategy, sourcing, and supplier management for Lab Consumables, Equipment, and Services within R&D. You will play a key role in developing a best-in-class Category Management and Strategic Sourcing framework, supporting global partnerships, optimizing supplier value, and ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesCategory Strategy & SourcingDevelop and implement category management and sourcing strategies for Lab Consumables, Equipment, and Services.Align category strategies with business needs while balancing cost, quality, speed, risk, and ease-of-use.Conduct sourcing events, manage RFPs, and negotiate commercial terms and contracts.Stakeholder & Supplier ManagementPartner closely with R&D, Operations, and Finance stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery.Identify, manage, and resolve supplier performance issues.Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, fostering a perception of as a “customer of choice.”Market Intelligence & Best PracticesStay current on industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices.Leverage market insights to optimize procurement performance and efficiency.Required QualificationsExperience: 7+ years in the biopharmaceutical industry with strong expertise in strategic sourcing and category management.Skills:Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving abilities.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Ability to influence across functions and geographies.Preferred QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certification (CPSM or equivalent) preferred.Expertise: Prior experience managing categories related to Lab Consumables, Equipment, and Services.Key Attributes for SuccessStrategic thinker with hands-on execution capability.Collaborative and proactive approach to supplier and stakeholder engagement.Results-driven with a focus on value creation, risk mitigation, and quality assurance.
