Position Scope: This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for an experienced Finance Manager ready to step into a Director-level position.
The Director of Finance will be responsible for executing the company’s financial strategy, ensuring profitability, and maintaining compliance. This role includes direct involvement in operations and requires a balance of strategic oversight and day-to-day financial management. Reporting to the Vice President/General Manager, the Director will oversee all accounting and finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and ERP systems. The role also includes managing a small team: Cost Accountant, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Payroll. Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee financial strategy and long-term plansDirect the accumulation, recording, preparation, and reporting of financial dataPrepare, analyze, and reconcile financial statements and related reports in a timely and accurate mannerManage all budget process activities; forecast all company operational and financial aspectsProvide specialized analyses in support of all business functionsManage banking relationships, audits, and tax complianceOwn budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk managementSet and review pricing models and profitability metricsGuide ERP/financial systems strategyOversee finance-related resources, including cost accounting, AP/AR, and payrollSupervise monthly balancing of books and monthly account reviewsRepresent finance in leadership meetings and strategic decisionsProvide management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progressLead or support change management initiatives related to financial systems, reporting processes, or organizational structure.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial and operational performance. Oversee inventory valuation and cost accounting processes to ensure accurate product costing and margin analysis. Support or lead financial aspects of sustainability and ESG reporting initiatives. Identify and develop high-potential talent within the finance team to support succession planning and organizational growth. Identify opportunities for automation and digital tools to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy. Required Skills and Knowledge: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Solid understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls. Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Proficient in building financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making. Ability to leverage data analytics tools and techniques to inform financial strategy. Comfortable presenting financial insights to non-financial stakeholders, including executives, operations, and external partners. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 4–6 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
Experience in manufacturing or food production environments is a strong asset. Demonstrated experience managing financial operations and leading teams. Experience with ERP systems implementation or optimization. Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with operations, sales, and supply chain. Experience managing audits, tax compliance, and banking relationships. Familiarity with cost accounting, inventory management, and margin analysis.
