Categories: ServiceLocation(s): Owen SoundTypes: Part TimePOSITION TITLE: OPERATING ROOM SUITE ATTENDANTDEPARTMENT: OPERATING ROOMPOSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE STATUS: PART-TIME WAGE RATE: $26.976 – $28.046Reporting to the Manager, Perioperative & MDRD, and taking direction from the department coordinator, the attendant is a member of the Perioperative team assigned to work with the nurses and physicians to provide non-professional support within the Operating Room (OR) Suite, which includes the OR (Operating Room), PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) and DS (Day Surgery) environments. The incumbent assists other members of the team in preparation and maintenance of the surgery environment before, during and following the surgical procedure: maintains supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment, transports products and patients to the OR; assists in transferring and positioning of patients as well as housekeeping duties for the Peri-op areas.RequiredQualifications / Skills / Abilities:High School DiplomaKnowledge of Surgical terminologyAbility to follow written and verbal job instructions and meet strict timelinesWillingness to participate in Healthy Moves training and demonstrate proper lifting techniqueKnowledge of isolation procedures including routine practices and additional precautionsUtilizes effective communication skills as a member of the Perioperative teamAbility to wear the required personal protective equipmentAbility to work all shifts within the OR Suite (which includes DS, OR & PACU)Recent satisfactory performance and attendance recordAdherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassmentAdvocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudesPreferredSix months recent OR attendant experience
