Centro is looking for Sustainable Packaging Engineer - ApparelJob Description / ResponsibilityPackaging DevelopmentConduct ongoing research into sustainable materials and circular product innovationsDesign and develop eco-friendly packaging solutions for garments (e.g., polybags, paper,hangers, cartons, tags, label) Ensure packaging meets buyer specifications, product protection standards, and branding requirements.Sustainability IntegrationIdentify and recommend environmentally responsible materials (recycled, biodegradable, compostable...).Lead initiatives to minimize packaging waste and enhance recyclability throughout sourcing operations.Compliance & CertificationEnsure packaging aligns with buyer sustainability standards and global certifications (e.g., GRS, FSC,...).Prepare documentation for audits, sustainability reporting, and certification processes.Supplier CollaborationPartner with local and international packaging suppliers to develop cost-effective, sustainable solutions.Assess supplier capabilities and ensure consistent quality and compliance.Cross-functional Coordination & DevelopmentCollaborate with Merchandising, Product Development, Quality and Logistics teams to synchronize packaging with production timelines and buyer expectations.Support sample development and bulk production with timely packaging solutions.Deliver training and educational sessions to internal and external stakeholders on sustainable packaging practices.Trend & Market ResearchStay informed on global and regional trends in sustainable packaging, new norms and regulation applicable in countries where we operate (UK, EU, Australia, USA…)Recommend innovative practices and materials to strengthen sustainability credentials.Educational RequirementsBachelor/HonorsBachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Environmental Science, Textile Engineering, or a related field.Experience RequirementsAt least 3 year(s)The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):Garments,Buying House,Packaging IndustryAdditional Requirements3–5 years of experience in packaging development within the RMG or apparel sourcing industry.Experience working with international buyers (e.g., H&M, Inditex, PVH, Walmart).Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and environmental impact analysis.Proficiency in packaging design tools (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator).Understanding of supply chain dynamics in Bangladesh/India RMG sector.Strong knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and technologies.Familiarity with buyer compliance requirements and sustainability certifications.Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
