Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and serves our members and community as a whole, through our YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Free family YMCA membership for applicants household if hired.RequirementsInstructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Has prepared lesson plans as appropriate. We will train all swim instructors, no experience needed, being on a swim team is a plus.Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and if appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports).Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes all reports as necessary.Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.QualificationsShould demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal communication, and customer service skills.Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.At least 15 years of age.CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Paid Child Abuse Prevention training prior hire date.
