Switchboard Operator (One month Fixed Term Contract)

Job Description

Duties & ResponsibilitiesAnswer incoming calls promptly and professionally (within 15 seconds).Greet callers in a friendly manner and follow the approved switchboard script.Transfer calls to correct extensions and take detailed messages when necessary.Handle emergency calls and maintain updated emergency contact lists.Update and maintain the switchboard database.Adhere to Tsebo’s SHEQ standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 18001).Handle difficult callers with respect and diplomacy.Skills and CompetenciesComputer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access).Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.Strong communication and attention to detail.Ability to multitask and work under pressure.Professional and customer-focused approach.QualificationsMatric (Grade 12).Secretarial or Telephonist Certificate/Diploma (advantageous).1–2 years’ experience in a similar environment.Customer service experience and experience on a busy electronic board.
