Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) with deep experience in payments systems and security to support large-scale, high-impact initiatives for payments and financial infrastructure programs.This is a remote, multi-year contract opportunity open to candidates based in Canada The TPM will work closely with product, engineering, and compliance teams to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable payment solutions. The ideal candidate has a proven record of leading complex technical programs in fintech, e-commerce, or global payment environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead complex, cross-functional programs spanning payments, security, and compliance across Google’s ecosystem.Oversee the design and implementation of payment processing, tokenization, and fraud prevention systems.Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, SOC 2, PSD2, and regional payment security regulations.Collaborate with engineering, product, and InfoSec teams to define scope, milestones, and KPIs for critical initiatives.Manage program risks, dependencies, and cross-team communication across distributed teams and time zones.Drive security-first principles across payments architecture — including data encryption, secure API design, and identity verification.Partner with vendors and payment service providers (PSPs) to enhance transaction reliability and performance.Coordinate post-launch monitoring, incident response, and continual improvement for payment and security systems.Create program documentation, dashboards, and status reports for Google stakeholders.Champion automation, observability, and secure development lifecycle best practices.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.6+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, ideally within payments, fintech, or security.Strong technical understanding of payment systems — authorization, settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, and fraud mitigation.Hands-on experience managing programs aligned with PCI-DSS, PSD2, SOC 2, and data protection (GDPR, CCPA).Proven experience in driving security initiatives such as encryption, key management, and secure identity/authentication.Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing at all levels of a global organization.Proficiency with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
