Job Description
Location: Sendai, Miyagi or Greater Tokyo Area, JapanEmployment Type: Full-time (Visa & Relocation Support Available)About 3D Architech:3D Architech is a deep-tech startup originating, operating across the United States (Boston) and Japan (Sendai). We have developed our proprietary gel-based metal manufacturing technology, bringing a new wave of innovation to the manufacturing industry.Today, data centers around the world face a critical challenge. With the rapid rise of AI, chip heat generation has increased dramatically, leading to massive energy consumption for cooling. Cooling now accounts for up to 40% of total data center electricity use, directly contributing not only to rising costs but also to global energy and environmental issues. At 3D Architech, we tackle this challenge through our unique gel-based metal manufacturing technology. Our process enables 10-micron-scale precision structures—a level of detail impossible with conventional methods—allowing the creation of entirely new types of cooling devices. This breakthrough can dramatically reduce electricity consumption, supporting the sustainable growth of AI while reducing global energy usage on a large scale. We are a small team of top engineers and researchers taking on both technical and societal challenges. We’re looking for people who are excited to take ownership, embrace challenges, and help us change the future together. Role Overview:This position plays a key role in developing next-generation cooling devices through numerical simulation and theoretical analysis. You will design and optimize devices using simulation, verifying their validity through theory and experimental data, and incorporating findings into product design. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a fast-moving startup with a global impact. Key Responsibilities:Use thermal modeling and fluid dynamics simulations to improve cooling device performance and validating them against experimental data from the first principle understandingBuild analytical models for complex geometries and propose new designs.Clearly communicate and collaborate with materials engineers and other internal/external stakeholders to reflect outcomes in product development.Work proactively with minimal supervision and adapt flexibly to a dynamic startup environment. Required Qualifications:Ph.D. or M.S. in thermal engineering, fluid mechanics, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent experience.Experience in thermal modeling and fluid dynamics simulation, ranging from spreadsheet-level calculations to simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, Ansys, COMSOL, nTop).Good understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics theory and capability to analyze simulation results from theory and literature review.Proven experience in collaborative R&D environments; eager to learn new tools and adapt to evolving challengesStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive progress even when results are incompleteProficiency in English or Japanese communication Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in design or development of liquid cooling devices.• Solid understanding of experimental measurement principles and ability to validate data to derive quantitative insights• Experience in improving performance through design or modification of measurement setups.• Programming experience for numerical simulation (e.g., custom solvers, OpenFOAM).• Experience working with porous materials, complex geometries, composite or multilayer materials.• Experience in management• Communication skills in two languages from English, Chinese, and Japanese Work Schedule and Compensation:Working Hours: 8:00 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch break)Flex-time availableOccasional domestic and international travel (Taiwan, USA) Benefits:Visa and relocation supportComprehensive medical and dental insurancePaid leave, maternity/paternity leave, and caregiving leaveSummer and winter holidaysFive-day workweek with weekends off Application Process:Interested candidates should complete the application form or send their resume and CV to:📧 applications@3d-architech.com
