Job Purpose:In the recycling business, key source of value generation lies in the optimal mix and cost of scrap sourcing. In addition, scrap markets are relatively less transparent, unorganized, multi-tiered, highly fragmented and operates on peer-to-peer relationships. In this dynamic market, Hindalco is a new entrant and plans to scale rapidly. This role is front end on the field representing Hindalco, developing and managing relationships with the vendors and customers that supply scrap. In addition, the position will source necessary scrap to supply to the proposed Yards.The proposed role will lead the sourcing and procurement of aluminium scrap from aggregators, traders, and industrial customers in the region. He/she will develop innovative circular solutions to customers. The role involves vendor development, negotiation, coordination, and supplier relationship management to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with company standards. Key Result Areas/Accountabilities:KRASupporting ActionsSafetyEnsure safe practices in scrap loading, transit and unloading.Develop and execute innovative and efficient ways in packaging and transport of scrapProvide timely observations on safety to yards, recycling/logistic partners and plantsSustainabilityEnsure responsible sourcing and maintain high standards of sourcingSupport and provide necessary information related to supplier auditEnsure GST compliance by sourcing and developing formal supply networksEnsure compliance with all regulatory requirements e.g. scrap is a hazardous wasteEnsure collection from authorized/registered scrap collectors under EPR normsSupport in policy advocacy related to recycling and local associationsCustomer CentricitySource required volumes in a timely manner as per needs of operations and salesImprove scrap quality and mix to maximize recovery and lower cost in scrap processingProvide innovative circular solutions to customers for close-loop recyclingProvide scrap to downstream plants to help in improving % recycled contentAddress and resolve quality issues with vendors through structured feedback and corrective actionsEnsure timely scrap lifting and payment to customers for process scrapCashSupport yards and plants in selling by-products e.g. plastics, copper, etc.Maintain optimal scrap inventory and negotiate better payable days for purchase of scrapContinuous improvement in vendor performance (quality, quantity, delivery timelines)Finalize contracts and agreements including payment terms and qualityTimely update to open hedge positions for scrap sourcedCostLead negotiations for pricing/volume for sourcing of all types of aluminium scrap from vendors, traders and customers (primary/downstream)Identify and develop new vendors and recycling partners to support existing and future scrap requirements of HindalcoIdentify small vendors that can supply local collection centers or yards of Hindalco to reduce overall processing cost, increase scrap volume and improve marginsSystems / Process / PeopleAdherence to the relevant SOPs, DoA, hedging policy, etc. related to scrap sourcingLead all interactions and real-time correspondence between vendors and internal/external stakeholders in terms of pricing negotiations, purchase order, logistics, loading/unloading, quantity variations, quality testing and paymentMaintain accurate documentation for procurement transactions, vendor records, and audit trailsSupport in developing/improving internal systems such as scrap sourcing app, ERP, IBP and CRM.
