Torbay Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Manager to lead a Social Work Team within Assessment and Intervention in our Children's Services Directorate. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality and effective social work services, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people.

To be successful in this role you will need be tenacious and passionate about this area of work. The Assessment and Intervention team manages the care planning for children with a high level of need and those subject to child protection planning. You will also manage duty on a three week rota basis, aligned to your locality, and you will be responsible for leading Strategy Discussions and overseeing s47 investigations, as well as the allocation of work into the service.

You will have the necessary skills and experience to provide clear direction, support and guidance through management oversight and review at key stages of the child’s journey. You will be able to provide restorative and reflective supervision to develop and support the skills and knowledge of your team. You will be solution focused and most importantly, want to provide high quality services which make a difference to children’s lives. Thorough understanding of current legislation and DfE guidance and developments in services to children and young people and families. Awareness of effective management practices. Experience & QualificationsEssential: Relevant professional qualification to the equivalent of a degree or equivalent and where relevant a current professional registration or licence to practice (Posts managing social work teams will require a social work degree and evidence of having met post qualification standards). Management qualification to certificate level or equivalent or, a willingness to acquire such, in a timely fashion. Current Social Work England Registration.

Significant social work qualification experience of working with children and families in the context of current legislation and government initiatives / or minimum of two years post social work qualification experience plus significant management experience in a relevant field working with children and families. Experience of managing or supporting others and assuring compliance to policy and procedures.
