Job DescriptionThe Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of import/export customs activity in Europe and United Kingdom for all Avient business segments/units. The position will report to the Sr EU Trade & Compliance Manager and will focus on assessing and mitigating risk to ensure compliance with EU and UK imports and exports while leading a team of analysts.Some travel may be required.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities Lead and conduct relevant import/export program activity in accordance with relevant EU and UK government authorities, WTO, ICC, and Avient Policies and Procedures. Maintain and update customs licenses for imports/exports/free trade agreements Ensure physical and digital recordkeeping and controls of all import/export activity, registration files and reporting in accordance with regulations for each Avient entity. Respond to and facilitate all EU and UK government queries, audits, notification of fines/penalties, refunds, and visits regarding import/export activities. Manage all aspects of Free Trade Agreement programs including vendor solicitations, qualification, issuance, and recordkeeping. Oversee and instruct EU and UK Customs Broker/Agent/software providers - establish and ensure service agreement/contract, Powers of Attorney, and NDA exist; Invoice/Accounts Payable process; SOP's, audits, and KPI's. Classify/determine Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Act as EU and UK subject matter expert to communicate, collaborate, and respond to all Avient internal queries (i.e., Commercial, Customer Service, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Product Stewardship, IT, Finance, Tax, etc.). Support Sr Trade Compliance Manager to develop, train and manage imports/exports control functions Monitor and identify changes in applicable rules, regulations, standards and related import/export trends relevant to the business unit; recommend and establish necessary modifications to policies and procedures. Lead & develop Trade & Compliance Analyst team Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodology to drive continuous improvement efforts. Develop and provide education plan and subject matter training to team and internal resources. Communicate status, opportunities, objectives, and questions with Business Unit and Global Trade Compliance Leadership. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 4 year degree or equivalent experience in international trade, customs brokerage, global logistics/freight forwarding Minimum of 5 years’ experience in international trade, customs brokerage, global logistics/freight forwarding or international business environment and regulatory compliance including import, export, classification (HTSUS), export control brokerage, customs and compliance.
