If you are someone who has ever taken a photo of a large high voltage transmission steel tower or a tall high voltage steel pole then you are one passionate engineer who understands how critical this infrastructure is for power transmission in the energy market :)Scenario You are an electrical or civil/ structural engineer who wants to design large transmission infrastructure and want to get into this field but could not find the right opportunity or Principal Engineer/ Mentor who can show you the ropes....And whilst driving down Melbourne CBD off the Westgate Bridge and going towards the Western Suburbs you noticed the tall slender High Voltage Steel Poles crossing the Westgate Freeway.....And you said to yourself....wow what would be like to design these and have a signature project like this looking over Melbourne :)If the above resonated with you and you read all the way to here...then you are the one we are looking for...ENGIAN Consulting is growing and we need a Design Engineer for Power Transmission Line Projects. Ideally we are looking for an experienced design engineer (Electrical or Civil/ Structural) who has worked in a design consultancy or a Power Utility in the LV or HV market. This person will have the background of understanding poles and wires or towers and wires and will have a flexible approach to learning and development as there will be a lot of learning. If this person has worked in a rail environment thats perfectly fine too as they will understand the concept and take it from there.This Engineer will be trained on the tools for example PLSCADD, TOWER program, PLS-POLE and others.Note: We wish to train the next batch of transmission line engineers for Australia hence the above role is an opening for the first person that joins us and then growth comes from there. There is going to be over 4000km of transmission lines to be constructed in Australia so its pretty serious we get going on the training and development of this engineering resource.This is a full-time on-site role for a Transmission Lines Engineer based in Melbourne, VIC (preferably Southeastern Suburbs as thats where we are and the Principal/ Coach is positioned here).Classic role definitionThe Transmission Lines Engineer will be responsible for carrying out transmission and distribution line design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Duties include developing modelling of poles, towers and overhead lines, being able to prepare calculation spreadsheets, develop good quality technical design reports and have a professional approach towards design planning and presentations.QualificationsDesign skills in Utility/ Contracting or Consulting Experience in the wider power market is a plus especially in low voltage distribution and high voltage transmission projectsBasic knowledge of AS/ NZS 7000, AS/ NZS 1170.2, AS4100Basic knowledge of AS/ NZS 2067 (a plus)Excellent organizational skillsAbility to work in Melbourne, VIC (Office based in Southeastern suburbs)Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/ Structural/ Electrical)Company Description/ Why us?ENGIAN Consulting provides strategic, front-end, and detailed design services to the Power Market.
