Job Title: Project Director – Data Centre ProjectsLocation: Linz & Vienna, AustriaEmployment Type: Full-timeTravel: Frequent travel between Linz and Vienna sites requiredAbout the RoleMy client are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of major data centre construction and infrastructure projects across Linz and Vienna. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large-scale mission-critical facilities, demonstrating strong leadership, technical expertise, and commercial acumen throughout the project lifecycle. Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the end-to-end delivery of data centre projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. Lead multidisciplinary teams including design consultants, contractors, engineers, and client stakeholders.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, budgets, timelines, and risk registers. Ensure adherence to project specifications, building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Drive high standards of health & safety, quality control, and operational excellence across all project phases. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, representing their interests and ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Manage commercial elements including procurement, contract negotiations, change management, and cost reporting. Coordinate between Linz and Vienna site teams, ensuring consistency in delivery and knowledge sharing. Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders, including project performance reports and KPIs.
Support long-term planning for future data centre developments and infrastructure expansion. Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure environments. Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects (€50M+), preferably across multiple locations. Strong knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning, and Tier III/IV design standards. Fluent in English; German proficiency highly desirable. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
