Our focus is on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving, leveraging thoughtful, data-validated designs to bring the next generation of driving experiences to life.WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?We are looking for a talented and experienced UI/UX Designer to join our ADAS UX team in Tokyo to play a critical role in shaping the user experience for the next-generation driver assistance and automated-parking technologies. This is a highly cross-functional role that demands excellence in both concept and execution. You will define and deliver intelligent, elegant, and empathetic design solutions that make complex systems feel simple, seamless, and safe. Your designs will directly contribute to the evolution of cutting-edge automotive experiences, impacting millions of users globally. You will work closely with strategists, engineering teams, project managers, and researchers to design experiences that are grounded in user insight, technically feasible, and contribute to Toyota’s long-term vision for mobility. An openness to cultural diversity and a collaborative approach to teamwork are essential for success in this role.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design of ADAS feature interfaces, flows, and interaction models from concept to mass productionDrive the unification of visual language across projects, and contribute to the evolution of team systems and processesTranslate system-level complexity into clear, familiar, user-experiences across the cockpit through user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed visual designsCommunicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goalsCollaborate with a cross-functional network of design, engineering, and management stakeholdersDrive user-centered methodologies in a technically constrained, safety-critical environment that ships at global scaleDevelop and maintain comprehensive UI design systems, style guides, and reusable component librariesMentor and guide junior designers, and help develop a highly collaborative, ego-free design cultureMinimum Qualifications5+ years of design experience (ideally some in the automotive or mobility space)Comfortable with both the vision and the detailsA strong portfolio showing end-to-end design process, included shipped productsA strong understanding of interaction design, inclusive design and accessibilityExperience with Figma, Protopie or prototyping equivalent (knowledge of 3D tools and workflows a bonus)Strong communicator able to build trust with engineers, stakeholders, and cross functional partnersComfortable navigating multi-cultural environmentsA deep listener that can translate research insights into meaningful user experiencesMust have a growth mindset and a collaborative work styleNICE TO HAVESExperience in the automotive, transportation, or aviation industriesJapanese language ability is a strong plusExperience with sound and/or haptic designJapanese driver’s licenseExperience with 3D tools (Unity, Houdini, Rive)Experience in motion design or familiarity with animation principles relevant to digital interfaces=========================================================================Important Points・All interviews will be arranged via Google Meet, unless otherwise stated.・The same job descriptions are available in both English and Japanese; therefore, we kindly ask that you apply to only one version.・We kindly request that you submit your resume in English, if possible.
