Job Description

User Researcher - ConsultantWe're working in partnership with a leading digital services provider to recruit multiple User Researchers for their growing digital team. You’ll join a collaborative environment focused on user-centred design, problem-solving, and the creation of impactful digital services and products.Please note: You must hold or be eligible for security clearance (SC).The RoleAs a User Researcher, you’ll collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Developers, and fellow Researchers to plan and deliver high-impact research that shapes better user experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesLead research within your team, recommending appropriate methodologies to capture valuable user insights.Conduct qualitative studies such as interviews, observations, diary studies, concept testing, and usability sessions.Use quantitative methods (e.g. surveys) and collaborate with analytics teams to enrich qualitative findings.Consider the end-to-end user journey, including business, policy, and technical constraints.Communicate findings clearly and involve teams in analysis and synthesis to foster empathy and data-driven decisions.Embed user-centred design principles and research best practices across teams and the wider organisation.RequirementsHands-on experience leading user research using both behavioural and attitudinal methods.Experience across multiple phases of the product/service lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery.Familiarity with GDS Service Standards and design principles.Strong storytelling, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Experience working in agile, multi-disciplinary teams, where research insights influence design decisions.Comfortable using prototypes to test assumptions and validate user journeys.Knowledge of tools and techniques for both in-person and remote research.Why ApplyJoin a consultancy that values innovation, collaboration, and user-led design — and work on projects that have a measurable impact on how people experience digital services across the UK.
