Director of ProductThe Director of Product at uShip is a strategic, data-driven product leader responsible for defining and delivering a multi-year product vision that drives business growth and creates value for shippers, carriers, and partners across our platform. As a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the CEO, this role oversees the full product lifecycle from discovery and strategy to execution and optimization while leading a team of experienced product managers and designers.
This leader will partner closely with Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to align product initiatives with business objectives and ensure that the platform delivers measurable results.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead Product Vision & StrategyWork with senior leadership to define and maintain a 3-year product vision aligned to company goals and evolving market needsIdentify high-impact opportunities across product lines, informed by customer insights, competitive analysis, and industry trendsBuild and communicate a clear, data-informed product roadmap, balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic bets Lead the end-to-end product design vision and execution, including user research, UX/UI strategy, prototyping, and design system governance to deliver intuitive, high-impact experiences aligned with the product roadmapChampion experimentation and A/B testing for key conversion points (e. g.
, account creation, listing creation, checkout) to drive measurable business impactDevelop strategies for compliance with WCAG, KYC, CCPA, GDPR, and other relevant frameworks Product Organization LeadershipLead and mentor a team of product managers and designers, fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and high performanceEstablish and maintain product management principles, processes, and best practices to ensure consistent delivery across teamsPartner with recruiting to attract top product talent and onboard new hires effectively Product Development & ExecutionTranslate business objectives into clear product requirements, prioritizing based on ROI, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and customer valueGuide teams through product discovery, validation, delivery, and post-launch iteration cycles.
Jump in as needed on any projects to bring to the finish lineCollaborate with engineering leadership to ensure timely, high-quality execution of initiatives and alignment on technical feasibilityEnsure marketplace health by monitoring supply/demand balance, transaction success rates, and user retention metrics Analytics & OptimizationDefine, measure, and report on key performance metrics, including platform conversion rates, engagement, and customer lifetime valueConduct competitive and market analysis to identify opportunities and threats, and adjust product strategies accordinglyMaintain operational dashboards and reporting processes to track roadmap progress and product health Stakeholder Collaboration & CommunicationAct as a central liaison between product, engineering, marketing, and operations, ensuring alignment and transparencyLead roadmap reviews and prioritization discussions with executives and stakeholdersManage tradeoffs across competing priorities, making informed decisions that balance customer needs and business objectives Qualifications10+ years of product management experience, including leadership of other product managersProven track record of delivering complex, multi-sided platforms or marketplacesStrong analytical skills with the ability to make data-informed decisions and measure business impactExperience managing large-scale roadmaps and balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally at the senior leadership levelFamiliarity with regulatory and compliance considerations for digital productsExperience with Marketplace, B2C, or Transportation Logistics business modelsLocation:
Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA. Remote first from those locations, but able to go into the office a few times a month.
