POSITION SUMMARY: Profoundry is seeking a VP Finance to oversee all financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO of the group, this important role will have oversight of finance and accounting for all four integrated organizations: a professional services business in Delphi a conference and convening business within GLOBE a membership-based, peer-to-peer executive learning organization in CBSR, and a not-for-profit focused on activating young leaders in Leading Change, together with an increasing organizational focus on corporate finance and governance matters (corporate structure, tax strategy and planning, external financing, and bringing on new management shareholders, planning for growth, etc.). The VP Finance is responsible for all aspects of operational accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning and analysis activities for the group. They will also support project delivery on key sustainable finance initiatives, and act as an industry thought leader by engaging in market dialogue and representing Profoundry externally. In this role, they will lead and coach a small team of Finance professionals, working collaboratively with business leaders across Profoundry. The incumbent will hold a CPA designation and will have extensive accounting and financial knowledge/ experience, great attention to detail, and superior communication and presentation skills. This is a full-time, permanent job reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, you will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), reporting directly to the CEO and providing strategic and functional guidance and expertise supporting continued growth of the family of organizations. You will set the standards for the group in terms of financial best practices and collaborate with the CEO to help nurture a culture that is both innovative and fiscally responsible. In addition to leading the finance and accounting function, you will also serve as a senior advisor on key projects and support the design and delivery of services related to sustainable finance and other priority areas. Specific functional and operational accountabilities include: Budgeting and Forecasting Financial planning including short-term budgeting and forecasting, and longer term (multi-year) business financial planning. The scope includes operational performance planning but also other areas as well such as cash flow forecasting, capital expenditure planning, capacity planning Work with senior leaders to develop and maintain rolling 12-month budgets; Update financial forecasts on a quarterly basis; Provide monthly updates on actual results compared to budget and forecasts; Analyze financial reports for areas of financial savings; Support business decision-making through meaningful financial analysis; Operational Accounting Provide oversight for all invoicing and accounts receivable functions, including engaging in collection efforts when appropriate; Responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable function and ensuring appropriate controls are in place over payments; Oversee semi-monthly payroll activities; Cash Flow Management Review weekly cash flow updates and ensure forecasts are as accurate as possible by working closely with senior leaders; Identify and implement measures to improve short and long-term cash flow; Identify opportunities for grants / funding to offset corporate expenses (e.g., market expansion, SRED, etc.); Financial Reporting Review complex balance sheet account reconciliations including deferred revenue and intercompany accounts; Oversee the monthly close and ensure it is completed in a timely manner; Prepare monthly financial reporting package for distribution to executives; Prepare quarterly financial updates and presentations for the Board of Directors; Develop and maintain financial reporting by business segment; Identify opportunities for process improvements and oversee implementation of those improvements; Ensure timely submission of mandatory government reporting – T4s, payroll source deductions, EHT, GST/HST, Statistics Canada surveys; Act as main contact for external accountants for annual audit / review engagements; Strategic Direction Continue to refine and improve our system of internal controls, as we expand in size and reach, to safeguard assets and to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of financial information included in our accounting system and associated transaction processing systems (e.g., payroll processing, accounts receivable and accounts payable transaction processing, banking, etc.). Enhance and maintain appropriate business systems as we grow to ensure for the efficient, timely, accurate and complete production of financial information. Ensure we are in compliance and in good standing with all government and regulatory requirements (such as tax compliance and annual corporate filings). Work with the management team to develop a decision-making framework to help the organization to most effectively allocate investments in new resources (people, systems, etc.) that will optimize the overall business outcomes for the organization. Work with the other members of the leadership team to develop financial plans to enable the other functions and business units to achieve their operational and strategic goals. Support growth and investment employing operational/working capital and debt & equity financing Sustainable Finance & Strategic Advisory Participate as a senior advisor on high-profile financial projects, bringing expertise to complex, cross-functional initiatives. Support the design and rollout of new and/or enhanced services that advance our sustainable finance offerings and create long-term value for clients. Act as an industry thought leader, representing the organization in the market, contributing to sector dialogue, and strengthening our reputation as a trusted partner in sustainable finance. Team Leadership Lead, develop and nurture finance and accounting team (two FTEs to date), and manage external financial resources and partners as needed QUALIFICATIONS: A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required; At least 15 years’ relevant financial accounting experience; At least 10 years’ experience in budgeting and financial planning; Experience with a successful finance transformation project (e.g. Sage to a cloud based accounting system) Experience reducing reliance on Excel based performance management to an ERP or other data management and process automation system(s). Supervisory experience is required; Excellent presentation skills, written and oral communication skills as well as excellent analytical, organization and interpersonal skills; Excellent computer skills using Excel and other O365 platforms Knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, provincial statutes
