Vice President of Safety & Toxicology – Suzhou, ChinaLocation: Suzhou, China (on-site)Reports to: Solid line to Co-CEO based in the USA and dotted line to President, ChinaCompensation: Highly competitive including stock options to attract candidates from within China and expats willing to relocate to China.Frontage Laboratories Inc. is an award-winning, publicly listed, science driven, full-service global CRO, founded 23 years back and is HQ in Exton, PA. We operate over 25 state-of-the-art facilities across the US, Canada, China and Europe providing comprehensive portfolio of services including Drug Discovery, Drug Development, Bioanalytical Services, Pharmaceutical Product Development, and Laboratory services.Position SummaryThe VP of Safety & Toxicology is responsible for scientific, technical, operational, and financial oversight of the Safety & Toxicology business operations in Suzhou, China, working closely with members of the local executive management team and direct reports. This leader is also responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the toxicology function in the non-clinical development group. This includes guiding planning, executing, and interpreting the safety portion of nonclinical development programs for sponsors. The successful candidate will have in-depth and current knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and be responsible for IND-enabling toxicology studies.This leader is accountable for adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to the function.Key Responsibilities:Manage day-to-day staff and business operations of the safety & toxicology business in China.Recruit and lead scientific, technical and support staff.Develop and manage annual operating budget.Oversee development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Provide support to sales team regarding business development activities.Provide strategic and operational leadership for design and management of sponsors’ nonclinical studies (safety pharmacology, genetic toxicology, general toxicology, reproductive toxicology, and toxicokinetic).Manage development of client protocols and ensure appropriate internal monitoring of studies.Manage appropriate preparation and reviews of toxicology and related reports, such as pathology, bioanalytical, dose analysis and toxicokinetic.Work with other members of the site leadership team to develop site priorities and manage resources to satisfy client expectations.Manage, coach and mentor direct reports and effectively delegate responsibilities to direct reports.Other responsibilities, as may be determined by the business.RequirementsPhD in Toxicology with 10-15 years of experience in nonclinical safety development of compounds and biologics in a CRO, pharma, biotechnology, or related environment. Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) or ERT certification is preferred.Excellent business acumen and B2B sales leadership experience, preferably in a CRO or life science functions, preferred.Experience or knowledge of toxicological and regulatory aspects of drug development.Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and flexibly in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment and work under pressure with aggressive timelines.Experience in the conduct of studies in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).Demonstrated working knowledge of US, China and other regulatory requirements for the conduct and design of nonclinical safety studies. Experience working with the FDA and other regulatory authorities.Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse professionals and backgrounds.Leadership ability and experience in coaching, mentoring and leading direct reports.Excellent verbal and written communication and skills in English. Fluency in Chinese is an asset, but not a requirement.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, in a fast-paced, matrix environment consisting of internal and external team members.Analytical thinking with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support, prioritize, multi-task and simultaneously lead multiple projects.Please email resume to gracefeng@frontagelab.com.cn Grace Feng, Director HR, Frontage China.
